Placement Categories Students are placed into the English course that most supports their unique needs as writers. The placement options include: Students who demonstrate a sophisticated knowledge of the characteristics of academic writing will receive three credits for taking English and will satisfy one of the General Education Writing [WRTG] requirements. This course prepares students for the rigors of academic writing that will be found in English
All students are welcome and no appointments are necessary.
Because we are a drop-in service, we recommend students visit the Writing Center early to ensure plenty of time with a consultant. In the Writing Center, administrators and consultants are committed to inclusive pedagogy.
We regularly participate in professional development regarding cultural awareness and sensitivity, and we study the intersections of writing centers and social justice to deepen our understanding of the strategies we employ and the effects of those strategies.
We use theories and frameworks such as critical literacy, contrastive rhetoric, and rhetorical listening as we aim to enact a pedagogy of belonging.
